Small to Medium Sized Business Owners
Our traditional client base consists of private owners of businesses
of all types. Though most of our work today is in high tech, we
continue to serve small to medium sized businesses at many levels
on behalf of dozens of currently active clients at any given time.
Our strength here is that we attempt to provide skilled advice
and services from a business specialty perspective. While there
are of course many fine business lawyers who provide such services,
we have found over many years’ experience that small business
clients can often become frustrated through ill-fitting arrangements
in which they sometimes find themselves, either because they have
gone to a large law firm only to realize that they are paying
for the learning time of inexperienced lawyers or because they
have gone to a general practitioner who does not necessarily have
the experience or specialty expertise to deal effectively with
their particular business needs.
Our goal in this area is to attempt to offer quality services
that meet high standards in what can often prove to be complex
business areas and to do so in a way that is focused, practical,
and cost-effective for serious business clients. This does not
mean “budget” as an end in itself, for the issues
facing most entrepreneurs and small businesses are not well-served
through corner-cutting. It means, rather, a direct and practical
process that is guided by the experience of a seasoned professional
and by sound strategic advice, to the exclusion of extraneous
goals such as a lawyer’s desire to dabble in a new area
while on hiatus from working in non-commercial areas of law or
by a larger law firm’s need to fill billable time by generating
arbitrary research projects or by piling up paper as an end in
itself.
For our firm, this particular area is a soil well-tilled over
many years, and it is one that, even as we have gained more and
more of a specialty focus in representing business start-ups in
the technology field, remains a mainstay of our regular and recurring
activities as strategic advisors and legal counselors to the business
community.
