Our Clients
Larger Companies with Specialty Needs
We have been retained by various companies having even established
relationships with large law firms in order to help with specialty
needs. Sometimes this is cost-driven, as when we are asked to
draft and/or advise upon a range of technology licensing or distribution
contracts, or other matters involving exploitation of intellectual
property, on behalf of an established company that uses a larger
firm for its broader corporate needs but seeks a more cost-effective
solution for its contract work, IP work, and similar matters.
This also applies to trademark filings and similar matters for
which our firm is often priced more cost-effectively than a larger
firm. This has even taken the form of a “quasi in-house
counsel” role – where a company actively working with
a large firm in a pre-IPO stage retains our firm as the functional
equivalent of an in-house legal staff, albeit only for limited
items as needed for which a typical in-house legal staff would
normally be used (e.g., for routine contracts, basic intellectual
property protection, and other matters not requiring the premium-priced
services of a large law firm).
